Geocache Description:

This is the first rock climbing cache in Israel. If you are not an experienced climber and you are alone you should not attempt retrieving this cache. The cache is a 50mL tube with a log, pen and small SWAG.

About Zanoch:

Zanoch is one of my favorite climbing areas, it is not big or tall (about 15 m high),but as routes ranging from 5C to 7A. The rock itself is mostly Dolomite and has a lot of Karst cracks so it is fun to climb. The site is very shaded during the summer (since it is facing north-west) and wet during the winter, also because of nesting the site is itself is closed from Feb-May because of owl nesting. To read more you can go to the Israeli Climbers Club or visit the climbers encyclopedia (Hebrew).

About The cache (and an IMPORTANT WARNING)

This is the 2nd rock climbing associated cache I am placing. Last time I decided to make it available to every geocacher(GC4MAQNA), but then a fellow geocacher told me that not every geocacher is meant to be found by every geocacher. Some caches are easy or located in central cities, some in the middle of nowhere, some are extremely easy some are extremely hard but every cache will find his cacher (or the other way around) so I decided to make a cache for the climbing geocachers type.

The cache is located inside a big cave (see spoilers) that can be reached by an easy climbing route.

  • Rock climbing is an extreme sport and should be taken seriously to avoid injuries.

  • Although the cache is only about 5-6m you must not try to reach it if you are not a good or experienced climber. You will find yourself climbing up but then the way down is not so simple…

  •  One should not try to attempt this cache alone since the site is secluded. Rock climbing is not a solo sport since you always need someone to back you in case of an injury or other emergency.
