From the parking in the Mill Yard the "Miles without Stiles" path can be located at the east end of the Yard near to the bowling green. The new bridge was erected in 2011 by local designer and metalworker Chris Brammall. GC30W12 After crossing the bridge continue left along the riverside path. The wall here was constructed by holding a wall building event organised by "The Lake District National Park", "The Friends of the Lake District" and "The Dry Stone Walling Association". The wall was built over two weekends! If you look carefully you can tell that different wallers built different sections. You'll soon come to a large wier that has a salmon ladder running up the side, the water taken off from here used to power the whole mill yard. You soon leave the wall behind and join the road, look out for kingfishers along this stretch. From the cache site continue along the road to Barley Bridge, GC173PZ cross the bridge and turn left again back towards the village, keep left on Back Lane and this will bring you back to The Mill Yard GC3BJX8. The whole route is less than a mile and should take about half an hour. You will need to bring your own pen and maybe tweezers.
