Geocache Description:

CITO

Group

After celebrating the 10th anniversary of Earthcaching at Wasp Head recently, JordsAU came up with the fantastic idea to continue the theme by hosting a Clean Up Australia Day CITO Event near an earthcache and the area adjacent to GC185XM – Lapstone Layers has been chosen for this year’s activity.

Geocaching NSW invites all members and non-members to lend a hand and participate in this very worthwhile community event.

We will meet at the published coordinates at 10:00am. Following a briefing we will move off and begin the cleanup of the John Whitton Park, the walkway along Knapsack Reserve and the bridge of the old Great Western Highway. Although much of the area is quite flat, it is hoped a group will venture down under the bridge to scour for rubbish. There is a track leading down with a number of steps to negotiate. It is expected we will finish around 1:00pm. Unfortunately, there are no toilet facilities where we will be working.

Please ensure you bring gloves, sunscreen, sensible clothing (long pants and sleeves), hat, proper footwear and water. Those grabby claws are great too, if you have one! The Association will provide garbage bags, but things like big plastic buckets for sharps/glass would be appreciated.

There are 10 parking spaces available in the vicinity (see additional Parking waypoint) as well as some street parking. Please be aware of all parking signs. For public transport options, visit www.transportnsw.info.

Please post a “Will Attend” log and add this event to your watchlist so you receive any announcements.
