Hakone Gardens Traditional Cache

This is a small geocache located just outside of downtown Saratoga and is located across from Hakone Gardens, a fantastic Japanese gardens open to the public.

This is a small cache located a few hundred yards just outside of downtown Saratoga.   The cache is located across from the entrance to Hakone Gardens, which is one of the oldest Japanese-style garden in the Western hemisphere.  This has been one of our favorite gardens to visit for many years.  The gardens have traditional structures, large koi ponds, bamboo forests, and acres of hillside gardens with a variety of well-manicured plants.  The gardens are a short drive up a steep road just across from the geocache and make for a lovely stroll when they are open (Mon-Fri 10am-5pm and weekends 11am-5pm).  The geocache is accessible anytime.  Be careful crossing the road.  After visiting the geocache and the gardens, go further up the road to one of several wineries for some tasting or a scenic bike ride or drive on Highway 9.
