If you look to the north of this location you will see some very high double fences. They seem a little excessive to hold in cattle and dogs from what is now a dog boarding business.
You would need to remember the 70's to know what was originally at this location. As a kid, I can remember many a family trip in the Chrysler Valiant which didnt have airconditioning heading through the big gates into a 70's version of Jurassic Park. It was the Bullens Lion Park.
You drove around a large area where the lions roamed free and you were not allowed to have your windows down for obvious reasons and if you were lucky the trainers would be feeding the lions from a caged trailer.
There are many stories of the lions breaking free, destroying cars and even a death - how much of this is true is lost in time.
One of our own, Gum-Ako worked there as a young girl so if you see her at an event, she could probably tell you a bit of what went on.
All that is left is the high fences, a few old grainy photos and childhood memories.
