107-COLOR YELLOW - Lecture Traditional Cache

This will be a series of 9 groups, each have 3 parts for a total of 27 caching hides.  The Title of the series is Lessons in Color.

You will be looking for a 4 oz. pill bottle.

In developing this Series, I was prompted to actually research what do the colors really mean. I have always like etymology, but more than that, I like the phrases, idioms and expressions that really have their roots from something more than just commonplace current day usage.

This is not intended to actually be complete by any means since most words have meanings rooted deep in history that may have may have changed through the years and also crosses cultures in their meanings.….this has been just a method for developing a new hiding series for our area (that will be a little unusual).

I, the CO, am the lecturer and the leader of this field trip down Highway 63 in Union County.  The family PEZ has agreed to provide my students for this adventure.  At the end of each group will be my party planner to provide the final color connection who may provide treats or favors to take home or just to take it easy.

There will be some differences but also sameness.  The camo and visibility will be different and finding should be very easy so just enjoy the idea.

YELLOW is a color which cries out for attention.  It is a naturally occurring pigment found in clays in many parts of the world.  It was one of the first colors used in prehistoric cave art and later in tomb paintings.  YELLOW is the color of gold, which was considered to be imperishable, eternal and indestructible.  The skins and bones of the gods were believed to be made of gold.  It is also the color of butter or ripe lemons.

YELLOW is the color of sunshine and commonly associated with warmth. Traditional YELLOW is made from arsenic, cow urine and other substances.  YELLOW is used to create moods and emotions.

YELLOW became firmly established as the color of Judas Iscariot, the disciple who betrayed Christ (he is usually portrayed wearing a pale YELLOW toga) and from this connection, also took on associations with envy, jealousy and duplicity.

One of the first characters in new comic strips was a humorous boy of the New York streets who became more commonly known as the YELLOW Kid from the YELLOW nightshirt he wore.  He gave his name (and color) to the whole genre of popular, sensational journalism, which became known as YELLOW journalism.

In the 20^th century, YELLOW was revived as a symbol of exclusion and Jews in Nazi Germany and German-occupied countries were required to sew YELLOW triangles with the Star of David onto their clothing.

YELLOW often replaces red as the color of anything needing high visibility and also popular in neon signs.  Actually, YELLOW is the color the eye sees when it looks at light.  YELLOW, is a key color in color printing and on a computer display, YELLOW is very important when combining colors for easy visibility.  YELLOW plays key roles in plants and algae, absorbing light energy for use in photosynthesis and protect the green chlorophyll from photo damage.  YELLOW is particularly attractive to birds and insects.

YELLOW is the color of ambivalence and contradiction.  It is also associated with optimism and amusement. But in SE Asia, YELLOW is a color of virtue and nobility. It is the color of happiness, glory and wisdom and only members of the Imperial household were permitted to wear YELLOW.  VIPs were honored with a YELLOW, not red, carpet.

A room painted YELLOW feels warmer than a room painted white and a lamp with YELLOW light seems more natural than a lamp with white light.  As the color of light, YELLOW is also associated with knowledge and wisdom.

YELLOW is the most visible color from a distance, so it is often used for objects that need to be seen, such as fire engines, road maintenance equipment, school buses and taxicabs.  It is also used for warning signs, signaling caution rather than danger.  A YELLOW penalty card in soccer means warning, not expulsion.   YELLOW, in Italy, refers to crime stories. In early Italy, published crime novels had YELLOW covers.  In Chinese culture, a YELLOW movie can refer to pornographic films.

A YELLOWdog Democrat was a Southern voter who consistently voted for Democratic candidates because of lingering resentment against the Republicans dating back to the Civil War & Reconstruction. Today, the term refers to a hard-core Democrat, who would vote for a “YELLOW dog” before voting for a Republican.

YELLOWbelly is an expression, meaning a coward which may have gotten its origin as a color of sickness…lacking strength and stamina.

YELLOW pages refer to directories by type of business or services offered.

YELLOW Peril used in the 19^th, early 20^th century in politics and popular fiction to describe the alleged economic and cultural danger posed to Europe and America by Chinese immigration.

High YELLOW was a term sometimes used in the early 20^th century to describe light-skinned African-Americans.

SOME AREAS WILL HAVE RECOGNIZABLE PULL-OFFS. MOST DO NOT. HOWEVER, THE SHOULDERS ARE WIDE AND SOLID.
