Geocache Description:

Welcome to the Niffler's Nine Geocache series. Located in the heart of the Denbighshire countryside this series of caches will take you on a stunning journey along the Afon Clwyd through natural oak woodlands and an ancient Drover’s lane.

The Route is around 3 miles long and the terrain is unsuitable for wheelchair users or pushchairs. The series has been designed with children in mind. The trail begins at the recommended parking area where there is room for 2 cars. Please be aware that whilst this is a relatively minor road, passing farm vehicles are common. The Route continues downhill towards the village of Melin-y-Wig (which translates to Mill in the Wood) and joins the Brenig Way which follows alongside the Afon Clwyd.   Many tranquil quiet spots can be found along the rivers edge and in late spring you will be surrounded by beautiful bluebells. Continue along the river eventually reaching Glyn Bach house where the footpath passes to the frontage and onto a lane. Next proceed left up the Drover’s lane noting the old well on your right. At the very top of the track turn left onto the minor road and continue to the final cache. The panoramic views from here are simply superb: Clocaenog forest stretches out in front of you, whilst Moel Famau and the Clwydian range dominate the eastern view.  It’s definitely worth the drive to get here – trust us!

The route can be very muddy in the winter months. Welly's or walking boots are recommended! Well done to Martin and Lynda Bryn for 1st to find for the series
