The turbines were brought to the site by a bullock team in 1900. They were lowered to the dynamo house on the river through the evacuated cutting behind you (as you read this sign near GZ).
In September 1995, the turbine was hauled from the riverbank through the same cutting to prevent its further deterioration. It is receiving preservation treatment as part of the conservation management of this historic site.
The GZ is accessible by wheelchair or stroller.
This is a replacement cache for the archived Black on (and under) Black cache, which disappeared, along with the roof, during maintenance of the structure.
