Geocache Description:

WELCOME TO MAINLAND NEW ZEALANDS MOST NORTHERLY GEOCACHE! The name Spirits bay does not reflect the top shelf as in the cache name, however refers to the history of the bay and surrounding region. For information about this see the attached link under Tohe. To the geocacher however, most applicable is that the land and mountains around here are sacred and so please check with the camp office before going off track.

This cache is on an island which is acessable only when the tide is low. At about half tide you can get there with some wading but you can easily have a dry walk at low tide.

GPS was a bit off when checking up on it so if someone could please confirm the accuracy of the coords I would be grateful.

This one may be difficult to spot : Clue - It is a DIY job. What does the island look like it is made from?

This cache also happens to have two brothers. They were all made from the same mold. Cape Maria Van Diemen Light house is the North islands most westerly geocache and is on Cape Maria Van Diemen, just south of Cape Reinga. Its a sign can be found at the entry to the Te Paki stream. Find one and you will have a huge advantage for the other two.
