Geocache Description:

The posted coordinates are virtual, there is no container or physical stage here. You will however, need to go to these coordinates to obtain information to locate the Final.

What you see here is known as a "Guzzler", sometimes referred to as a "Turkey Guzzler". Guzzlers are storage tanks that capture and collect rain water and snow melt in covered troughs to provide drinking water to wildlife in a particular area. An apron type roof structure collects the rain and snow melt, then stores it in a tank below. They are normally used by a variety of wildlife such as turkeys, elk, deer, and bighorn sheep. Guzzler tanks vary in size from a few hundred to several thousand gallons.

Guzzlers have been placed by private land owners, government agencies, land trusts, and conservation districts all over the world. Locally, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation partnered up with the Black Hills National Forest to find, restore, monitor, and maintain these guzzlers. Similar projects have occurred over the years between the RMEF and other land managers across the country.

You can park at the coordinates listed below as an additional waypoint to begin your journey. When you arrive at the posted coordinates of the cache, you will need to do a slight bit of onsite math using the informational sign here to calculate the location of the Final.

You are looking for a regular-sized lockable and mostly waterproof container. It contains the obligatory logbook, along with an assortment of swag items. Be sure to re-hide the cache well after signing the log so it isn't exposed to random foot traffic just wandering around out here in the woods. Please do not post pictures of the sign or reveal the location of the Final with your online log. As with all our caches, enjoy the area, stay safe, and have fun!
