How Geocaching Works

Please note Use of geocaching.com services is subject to the terms and conditions in our disclaimer.

Geocache Description:

We have been promising an event cache for a long time but always seem to be too busy chasing our tails in ever-decreasing circles and seemingly getting nowhere. But no more. The time has come. The catalyst for this event is to meet Keith who is a visiting Queensland cacher, going by Sweet-Sour. Also with him will be his daughter Dianne (doscrapbooking), a cacher from Sweden. What a great opportunity to meet an interstate and international cacher in our own backyard.

We have many people to thank for contributing to our event as follows:

Tigersden's Geocaching Goodies/Tigersden's Designs for so many prizes...WOW thankyou.

Pathtag Portal for pathtag prizes, thankyou.

Chris and Stacky from Jockaroo for their lovely prizes, thankyou.

FelixII for their personal coins and pathtags, thankyou.

Luna Maya for a gift voucher for the costume prize, thankyou.

Urch for some pathtags, thankyou.

Thankyou so much guys, we were very appreciative of your great support. It enabled everyone who attended to go home with at least one prize.

Event will take place from 11.00am to 3.00pm.

For those of you who are familiar with “Moneybox” caches this event will continue along with their idea of “thinking outside the box”. For a bit of extra fun we would love you to wear something beginning with “C” to continue the idea of the event being a big “C”aper for all. Could even be a “C”prize in it.

It’s a little difficult to find attractive geological features in and around Capel hence our somewhat adventurous cache designs. We get a lot of satisfaction from sharing our creations so hopefully we can offer an enjoyable event as well.

You should come prepared for a geocaching day out. Be sure you know how to manually enter GPS coordinates into your navigation device.

This is what we've planned:
  • A smattering of fun
  • Games and prizes to be won
  • Time to chat and catch up with geofriends
  • Time to meet and greet new geofriends
  • Some new caches released
  • "Finders Keepers Capers” - whatever that is :)
  • Share your caching experiences.

The barbecue will be fired up at 11.30am but please BYO food and drinks. There is plenty of room for a picnic and thermos. Please remember the all important chair, sunscreen, hat and water.

What you may like to bring:
  • food
  • drinks
  • chair
  • sunscreen
  • hat
  • water
  • picnic rug
  • insect repellent
  • GPS and batteries/charger
  • “C” item to wear
  • notebook and pencil
  • camera
  • geocaching items you may wish to swap/display/share

Anyone wishing to sell geocaching merchandise or donate items please contact us via email.

If you have a caravan, camper or tent you are welcome to stay from Friday night. If you need power please supply your own power cord. There is plenty of space available with basic bathroom and kitchen facilities - as well as the barbecue - if you wish to prepare a meal and stay the night. NO OPEN FIRES. The event is in the light industrial area so a bit of late noise and activity would be acceptable.

All you need to do now is post a 'will attend' log to this cache page and mark it in your diary.

Be “C”reative and we’ll “C” you there :)
