Geocache Description:

This Geoart is part of a nationwide project. THE USA 50 STATE STAR GEOART celebrates every state in the USA. Our Goal is to have a "50 STATE STAR" in each state of the USA. Look for the States that proudly display the "STAR"!

This 50 State Star celebrates "The Last Frontier" ie the great state of ALASKA!

The Alaska Star is composed of 51 Star caches. All of the caches are puzzles. The puzzles will consist of several types. Some you will be able to solve at home, no matter where in the world you are. Others you will have to be here in Alaska to solve. And finally some, you will not be able to solve until you are actively pursuing the star.

The caches in the star include micro, small and regular sized containers. All contain a logsheet that will need to be signed. Be sure to bring your own writing utensil. I recommend using a GPS to find the caches. Cellphone cachers may experience coverage problems. They may also find themselves wishing for more battery life or lacking a 'method' to complete a particular cache.

The star itself is located south of Anchorage in the Turnagain Arm. The drive along the Seward Highway from Anchorage to Seward, which includes the Turnagain Arm, has been recognized as a National Scenic Byway. It holds the triple designations of USDA Forest Service Scenic Byway, Alaska Scenic Byway, and All-American Road. Be sure to bring your camera as you might see eagles, whales, moose, bears, mountain goats, sheep, a bore tide and who knows what else!

Make the journey from wherever you are and experience one of the most beautiful locations in Alaska while pursuing the Alaskan version of the 50 State Star Geoart Project and the many other caches in the area!

The cache is NOT at the posted coordinates!!! Solve the puzzle on this page for the FINAL location!

Watch out for Bullwinkle and Yogi!
They are known to be in the area and can be unfriendly!
Caching in Alaska comes with its own set of RISKS including avalanches. Note the seasonal access attribute. The area of the star is seasonally closed for avalanches. Should you find signage stating the trail is closed, do not ignore it.

This cache is placed under Alaska State Parks Permit No 14-KA-973.

Should you like to check the current weather and forecast conditions for the Bird Point Parking Area click here. The conditions, especially the winds, can be significantly different than they are in Anchorage!
