The Hiking Stick! Mystery Cache

This cache has been archived.

Paleoman52: Doing a little housekeeping on this snowy cold day and I've decided to archive a few of my less visited caches. I very much appreciate the visits you made and the logs you left sharing your experience. Time to open up a few spots and let some others place some new caches.

Geocache Description:

This is a mystery cache with a twist thrown in for fun! Be sure to read the cache description carefully before heading out.

Park in the Castile Youth Center Parking lot and then hike to an opening of the woods on the left side of the field.

A cacher’s hiking stick is probably one of the most important tools a cacher can have, besides a GPS of some kind to get them there. The first thing I did when I decided to become a cacher was to go out and get one of those cheap, retractable hiking sticks with a compass in the handle at my local Walmart. I carried that stick with me to every cache I visited. Then one day back in June of 2009, Howieandjan put out an interesting cache called “Spider’s and Snakes” and the FTF prize was a hiking stick made by Zoggy! I had to be FTF on this cache because I had already seen a few of the quality sticks that Zoggy had made and I had to have one. When I arrived at the cache site Parking and headed toward the cache, I ran into esteemed cacher Lucky46 making his way out and looking a bit disheveled. He had not found it and gave up and told me there was a couple still there searching for it. Wow, this was going to be a tough one for sure and I was going to have to earn this stick if I could find it first. To make a long story short I ended up finding this very well hidden cache and got to claim the FTF prize-A beautiful handmade walking stick by Zoggy.  After I received it I cherished it and it is now my main walking stick and I have added a few modifications since I won it. I found an old chandelier in a farm dump one time that had a glass faceted ball in the middle and brought that home and added it to the top of my stick! Then I added a few nice metal tags, with enamel painted scenes of Letchworth Park also. I made my stick a travel bug by adding a TB tag to it, so if you see me with my stick, you can also log my stick. I love my hiking stick and the fact that Zoggy made it means so much more to me. I really miss him a lot and I take his stick with me everywhere I go and I think of him quite often.

So let’s talk about the cache a little. The above coordinates take you to what you seek, but before you leave the house it would be a good idea to take some extra numbers with you that might come in handy. There is a twist with this cache and I think you will enjoy it, as long as you are prepared. Everything you need to know can be found in the above paragraph, but you may have to look at a couple of things a little closer. Once you find the cache, if you have any stories to share about your hiking stick please share them here in your log!
