The "Tan" is a 3.8 Km walking/running track that skirts around the Botanical Gardens and King's Domain. It is very popular, with people exercising at all times, especially the mornings, evenings and weekends. The Royal Botanical Gardens are only a short walk from the City and are well worth a visit.
No one really knows why the track is named the "Tan". Perhaps it is because it use to be covered in tan bark, perhaps because the running surface is tan in colour or possibly as it circles the boTANical gardens. The fastest lap time, of 10 minutes and 12 seconds is held by Craig Mottram in 2004. Your lap time maybe a bit slower but hopefully you will pick up this cache along the way. The cache is only small, it contains a pencil. There is no room for swaps or trackables. It can be accessed 24 hours a day. Parking is available along Birdword Avenue, although between 7:30am and 6:30pm it is one hour paid parking. Enjoy the PIT stop.
