This is a special project to construct a new trail to the top of "Elliott Mountain" from the Gnome Trail (?). Elliott Mountain is a newly named, geographic feature in the Conejo Open Space named in memory of Burt Elliott, a tireless Santa Monica Mountains Trails Council (SMMTC) and Conejo Opens Space and Conservation Agency (COSCA) volunteer and an avid geocacher we knew as Big Eagle. The volunteers for this project will be primarily members of the SMMTC trail crew, COSCA staff and members of the local geocaching community. Other volunteers are welcome. Meet at the Conejo Canyons Bridge, near Santa Rosa County park. Directions: On Hill Canyon Road, 1/2 mile south of Santa Rosa Road. Prior registration appreciated.
Of course, for this CITO event, certain areas will be assigned to Geocachers for renovation/improvement, and we will need to hike to the work site, do the trail building, and hike back to parking. Assignments will be made day of the event, depending on the number of signups.
The destination of this trail is the cache: A Grand View.
