Grady EMS, the hospital-based emergency care component of Grady Health System, has demonstrated its commitment to public service by providing advanced life support, emergency ambulance services to any citizen or visitor found with the City of Atlanta in Fulton County regardless of social, political or economic status.
Grady has served as the healthcare provider of first resort for the President of the United States and the last safety net for the indigent. This service, which began in 1892 with one horse-drawn ambulance, now staffs more than 350 licensed personnel and maintains a fleet of more than 46 ALS ambulances staffed by double EMT- Intermediate or EMT-I/Paramedic combination transport units.
Grady EMS is one of the largest providers of pre-hospital care in the southeast handling approximately 100,000 requests annually for emergency services dispatched at the appropriate life threatening response level as determined through Emergency Medical Dispatch. Motor vehicle collisions are the most frequently dispatched trauma-related complaint. The most frequently dispatched non-trauma medical complaint is difficulty breathing.
This is one of an ongoing series I am going to be doing. I spent a lot of time here at post. There are various posts where Grady EMS wait for 911 calls, Hollywood and "bankhead" (now called Donald Lee Hollowell). When you go for this post there is a good chance you will see a Grady Ambulance waiting for an emergency. This is right by a fire station as well so it is relatively safe, but I would recommend coming at night if you can help it.
