Geocache Description:

The Beaver Lodge geocache is located well within the George Mitchell Preserve.  From the designated parking lot, expect a two mile round trip excursion to one of the most beautiful spots within the preserve.    Once you find the cache, take a break and perhaps you can catch the beavers at their craft.   Good luck.  First to find will be rewarded with a gift card to La Madeline.  

 

The cache is a traditional one....an ammo can.  The nature walk through the Mitchell Preserve is about as good as it gets in such a populated area.  Take the time to soak it in.  Take time to relax by the beaver pond and don't forget to identify the beaver lodge on the other side.  The work of beavers can be found around trees surrouding the pond (look for the bite marks).  You may get luck and spot one in the water although they are very cautious creatures.  The cache is located in front of a pond created by the beavers.  If you look closely across the pond, you will see the beaver lodge.   

Good luck.  First to find will be rewarded with a gift card to La Madeline.  

A word of caution.  The cache is roughly a two mile round-trip hike.  Bring a friend and ALWAYS PLENTY OF WATER.  Don't attempt without being prepared.  We all know how hot and humid it can get here in Texas so please use extreme caution during the summer months.  

Once you arrive, the cache should be easy to find.
