Geocache Description:

This is stop #4 of 5 on the Ernie Davis Express adventure.   Enclosed in the cache, you will find a short story about the life of Ernie Davis.  Stop 1,2,3, and 5 are located in Elmira, New York.  Each cache reveals more about Ernie's character and athleticism.  Please bring your own pencil as this is a micro cache.

The Express geocache is designed to take you on a journey through the life of Ernie Davis.  Ernie earned the nickname "The Elmira Express" in 1959, after leading his Syracuse University football team to an undefeated season and a national championship.  Many people know about Ernie Davis the athlete but less about Ernie Davis the person.  As I read about the life of Ernie Davis I found that it was not simply his gifted athleticism but more importantly his character that made him a lasting impact on his communtiy and the people who knew him.  I hope that through this geocache adventure you  get glimpse of Ernie Davis the courageous, humble and compassionate leader.
