Geocache Description:

From this spot on the other side of the canal you should get a good view of Chester (Boughton) Shot Tower, a grade-II-listed structure originally used to manufacture lead shot by dropping molten metal from the top of the tower where it would form into perfect spheres by the time it was cooled in cold water at the base.

Built by Walkers, Parker & Co. in 1799, it is the oldest of the three surviving shot towers in the UK and probably the oldest still standing in the world.

The shot tower and leadworks site is currently undergoing a £6.4 million redevelopment to create residential units as well as leisure and retail facilities.

The canalside here is a very busy thoroughfare so, at busy times, a high level of stealth may be required to locate, retrieve and replace the cache.

You are looking for a black film pot-style container. The cache is not near the edge of the canal but, as always around deep water, care should be taken when caching with geo- kids or dogs.

Congratulations to The Molecachers on being First to Find!
