The Cape Glossy Starling is the most prevailant species of Starling in South Africa. There is a large flock that frequents the reserve. These beautiful birds are very common and are accustomed to humans and will often approach in the hope of getting an easy meal.

The Cape Starling, Red-shouldered Glossy-starling or Cape Glossy Starling (Lamprotornis nitens) is a species of starling in the Sturnidae family.
It is found in Angola, Botswana, Republic of the Congo, Gabon, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Swaziland, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
It grows to about 22 cm in size.
Its habitat is woodlands, bushveld and in suburbs.
