Geocache Description:

The Secret Log!

Here and now you will be given the amazing chance to do several great things at a time...

(1) see what really happened on Phileas Fogg's trip around the globe
(2) navigate the Nautilus
(3) find a new geocache!

Soon you will put your eyes on an unpublished personal log of a completely unknown adventure of Mr. Phileas Fogg's famous journey. See for yourself what once occured in the middle of the great and deep ocean. Are you all set?

Because the story...

...is about to begin.

1872

Everything started on 2nd of October, when - as we all remeber - Mr. Phileas Fogg, a british gentleman and member of the 'Reform Club', accompanied by his true and loyal servant Passepartout, turned the local newspapers upside down by announcing a travel around the globe in no longer than 80 days.
His route started in London at Charing Cross railway station at 08.45 PM and continued via Suez (Egypt), Bombay (India), Calcutta (India), Hong Kong (China), Yokohama (Japan), San Francisco (USA), New York City (USA) back to the 'Reform Club' in London.
Apart from the known little challenges on the way, everything went fine ...until... yes, ...until... the night after the 52nd day of their trip. There, something REALLY out of the ordinary happened. And as the accurate man he was, Mr. Fogg had kept log of this very special adventure and had promised to keep it secret for as long as he lives. As a british gentleman and a man of his word this was exactly what he had done.

But he had also passed on this secret log from generation to generation with the condition to not let this information ever being spread outside family borders...

2014

On 12th of January, I walked by a certain location and noticed a man standing there. When I went over and said hello, the man introduced himself as Mr. Phileas Fogg VI, great-great-grandson of the original Mr. Fogg. I then almost couldn't believe the story he told me:
He had been on a very rare trip to check some well hidden measuring points around the globe, and usually tried not to be seen by anyone. I could ensure him that I will tell no one about him, except maybe some geocacher friends, if I were allowed to.
"Geocaching???", he asked.
And so I explained to him shortly how geocaching works. He became so interested in this, he even offered me to use the measuring point we met at, as a geocache! I could even use his great-great-grandfathers secret log to make a Mystery cache out of it, if it stays within geocaching-family-borders.
WOW! You will understand that I was 110% excited about this idea! So the deal was on, we shook hands and said Goodbye. Later he sent me a copy of the original document named "The Secret Log of Phileas Fogg".

If you are interested in finding this geocache and at the same time this measuring point, you should read carefully "The Secret Log of Phileas Fogg" below.

...Happy hunting by Team Bazi07...

"The Secret Log of Phileas Fogg"

Starting from Calcutta on board the "General Grant", a ship of the Indian Mail Steamship Company. Making 12 miles/h we should arrive at Singapore in 6 days.

30.10.1872 03:30 AM
A pitch dark night. After five days on sea and almost 1500 miles from Calcutta our ship is suddendly rammed and forced to stop by a strange looking ship in the Indian Ocean. A man, introducing himself as Captain Nemo askes specifically for me to come aboard his vessel. Of course I did not consider for a split second to leave Passepartout behind! So we both went.
Postscript: Later we learnt that this vessel, named "Nautilus", is a submarine built by Captain Nemo himself.

We have been 26 days aboard the Nautilus. We are treated well. Captain Nemo told me and Passepartout about his plans. We started to dive, and are heading straight to the bottom of the ocean. Together with us, Captain Nemo want's to set up plenty of measuring points all around the globe to track the quality of air and ground water.

25.11.1872 11:55 AM
For 3 hours we had been fighting with a giant octopus, a so called "Kraken". The beast is dead, but our rudder got blocked! The Nautilus is free now but cannot be steered anymore! We are heading directly to the center of the earth! Will we all survive this? Where on earth will we come out and see daylight again...?

01.12.1872 01:30 PM
Daylight! Eventually! After more than 6 days inside the earth we made it completely through the earth! Incredible! The Nautilus is the ship with the most extraordinary capabilities I've ever seen in my whole life! And so is Captain Nemo himself!
We see trees, lots of trees. ...where are we here?

01.12.1872 06:45 PM
The rudder is repaired! Together with Captain Nemo we set up a new measuring point on top of a huge rock. After everything is done, the plan is to return the same way we came here. Captain Nemo let us know that when we are back inside the ship, the Nautilus is going to place this huge rock on top of the hole we came through, so no one will find our tunnel through the earth.

03.12.1872 03:25 AM
After a long and interesting discussion with Captain Nemo two days ago, I could convince him to bring us directly to San Francisco where we right now at this moment secretly enter the bay of Golden Gate. From here we soon will continue our original journey by train to New York City - on time schedule. Wonderful!
Postscript: After we left the ship and it disappeared into the ocean, I have never seen Captain Nemo and his Nautilus again. But I will always remember him as the greatest man of his time for as long as I live!
