This is the 10th in the Giant series. The cache is placed with views back onto limestone cliffs and shows some of the Mangaotaki river and valley upstream, rapids directly below and a chance to have a final glance at the river before it ends its life downstream when it flows into the Mokau. Best viewing is from the cache site where road and cliff repairs were carried out after massive rocks fell.
Parking is available in a road maintenance layby just downhill from the cache. It is possible to walk either side of the crash barriers although the terrain rating is higher on the river side. The outer camouflaged cache is placed near the closer end of a retaining wall and consists of two M & M containers, one with the log, the other for trackables/treasures. Very minor engineering and logic skills may be required after a close look. Please reassemble to avoid loss.
