Geocache Description:

This is a set of three caches, which I hope will be well used. This second one is a small round cache near to a pathway. It is best to park in the small free car park in Ellesmere Street off Green lane.

These caches straggle the western border of Boothtown. In medieval times the area was known as "The booths", derived from the name given to the huts that housed the manor herdsmen. Boothstown's origins, however, reach back to Roman times and beyond. A hoard of coins dated from 289 to 296 A.D. was found at Boothstown in 1989. A previous hoard was unearthed in 1947, in the area now occupied by the Orchard Estate. This earlier hoard was hidden only a short distance from the Roman road through Mosley Common.
