Horsin' around in Cochrane Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

EmOCan: Went out to check on this one and confirmed that it is -- indeed -- missing again. Clearly this spot is compromised and replacing the cache just means it will disappear again. Sad to see this one go as it was my first hide, but it had a pretty good run of almost four years.

Geocache Description:

A familiar landmark overlooking the town of Cochrane is the striking bronze statue of a man and his trusty horse entitled "Men of Vision". It's worth a trip up the stairs to have a closer look!

You're looking for a camo-taped L&L container. It includes a log book and pencil. This cache is my first hide! BIG THANKS to DanOCan for placing the container and and maintaining it until I can join him in Canada and we both call Cochrane our home. The town of Cochrane grew from Senator Matthew Cochrane's original 1881 ranch and is now a thriving town of nearly 20,000 people that embrace growth and still pride themselves on the vibrant history of the town. One of the most notable landmarks that represents the ranching heritage in Cochrane is the large bronze statue by Malcolm James MacKenzie entitled "Men of Vision. The statue was dedicated on May 21, 1979 to dedicate the opening of the Cochrane Ranche House historic site. The silhouette of the statue is now the symbol for the town. The area surrounding the statue is maintained by the town of Cochrane and the stairs were recently updated in 2012. This is one of my favorite locales in Cochrane- it's a great place to take a walk and enjoy the panoramic view. And as a horse person, I especially enjoy this statue and wanted to give others the chance to see it.
