March 24 1969. a quickly spreading fire engulfs Hayden hill and sadly takes away 6 members of the Mattimore family, It was said the fire acted capriciously jumping over one home that was unoccupied at the time to strike the Mattimore homestead. Growing up in Clarksburg and having having family members in the local VOL, Fire Department I heard all about this sad incident
