C'est pourquoi en 1858 la municipalité fait un bilan de la situation, il s'avère que la fontaine principale Saint Andoche pourtant alimentée par deux captages (fontaine Caristie) n'a pas un débit suffisant. La construction d'une réserve de plus de 50 m2 destinée à alimenter 6 bornes fontaines est entreprise. Les travaux commencent en 1859, de nombreux aléas font qu'ils dureront quatre ans. Cette jolie Fontaine pompe est le dernier exemplaire d'une série de six dont malheureusement les cinq autres ont été détruites. Erigée en 1848 rue de la Rouerie, celle-ci était munie d'une pompe.
