Across the street is the Wards Chapel Baptist Church building. This church was founded in 1895 as a non-denominational church. It became a Baptist Church during the 1920's. The original church building was a simple brush arbor. The church has grown since it's foundation and the church building has been added onto about a-half-a-dozen times.
The Wards Chapel School building was located right where my house currently stands. The storm cellar for the school was located where our current storm cellar was installed. There is some of the original foundation just east of our cellar.
Several old, old maps show the Wards Chapel Cemetery to be located where you are standing when you find this cache. There are no tombstones or markers, but my father (kbaldeagle) has "dowsed" (aka "witched") the area west & north of the cement slab and there is a strong indication that there are many graves located here.
