Geocache Description:

Karakorum (Хархорум Kharkhorum) was the capital of the Mongol Empire in the 13th century, and of the Northern Yuan in the 14–15th centuries. Its ruins lie in the northwestern corner of the Uvurkhangai Province of Mongolia, near today's town of Kharkhorin, and adjacent to the Erdene Zuu monastery.

Outside the monastery walls are two stone turtles (also called Turtle Rocks). Four of these sculptures once marked the boundaries of ancient Karakorum, acting as protectors of the city (turtles are considered symbols of eternity). The turtles originally had an inscribed stone stele mounted vertically on their back.

The cache is a small plastic container box containing souvenirs, mongolian coin, pencil and a log book.
