BTR GBNF Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

Chuck Walla: Greetings from your Community Volunteer Reviewer,

Since you have not responded to my reviewer log about your cache, nor did you post a note to your cache page telling me and others of your intention to address the issue with it, the cache has been archived.

Some time ago, I posted a note to your cache page requesting a response from you to post what you were planning to do with the cache on the page and to send me a note. I have no record of a response, and no response tells me that you are not planning on replacing or repairing this cache. If I am wrong with that assumption, please let me know promptly. I can always unarchive the cache for you if needed.

Sincerely,

Chuck Walla

Geocache Description:

This is our first cache to hide. We have been waiting to hide any because this is a very special cache that is very close to J's heart. It is hidden at the Marshall Veteran Memorial Hall with permission of James Fountain. You are looking for a small metal candy tin that has been cammoed. There is plenty of room for swag. The coordinates may be off because we were using iPhones. We look forward to reading all your logs so please be generous with your words.

This cache is hidden in memory of J's service brother, Bryn Todd Raver and in honor of all of our soldiers and the sacrifices they made. He has many fond memories of Bryn and thought this would be a great way to memorialize him. They served in Iraq together but J was discharged before their unit redeployed to Afghanistan where Bryn was killed in action. If anyone who visits this cache knows Bryn or another soldier please share your fondest memories of them in your log.

James Fountain was able to provide us with the following information: The Searcy County Veterans Memorial Association, a 501 (c) (3) public charity organization, was organized and incorporated in 1988 to raise funds and erect a Veteran Memorial Monument to honor those who gave their lives in the service of our country.  As the name implies, this organization is dedicated  to honor and remember those veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Services, and help to educate the public, especially the children of Searcy County, of the sacrifices these veterans made to keep America free.

Bryn Raver's name is engraved on the monument that stands in front of the court house on the Marshall town square.

We would like to give a special thanks to b62gtawk for his help in recovering the cache from the first place we tried to hide it. We felt this is a more fitting place to honor Bryn and other American Heroes. Also thanks to Darryl Treat with the Searcy County Chamber of Commerce for helping connect us to the proper channels and making this cache possible. One last thanks to ammienichole for making the trip with us to hide the cache.

If the cache needs maintenance or attention please let us know so we can take care of any issues. Also, we appreciate any maintenance made from fellow cachers along the way.
