BOGGY DEPOT
Site of town noted for distinguished citizens in state history. The first house was built in 1837 by Cyrus Harris, who later became the Chichasaw Nation Governor. This location later became the Choctaw Capital and the Overland Mail Stage Stand to San Francisco (1858-1861). It was also the home of the Principal Choctaw Chief, Allen Wright, who named Oklahoma in 1866. Notable missionary, Rev. Cyrus Kingsburry, is burried here.
This is near the historic community of Boggy Depot.
Local Anti-Muggling Tip: Wave at every car you meet on the road and every car that drives by. This is a regular and highly common practice in this community. By waving, most locals will be very likely to see you as another local person (even though they may not recognize you).
This is part of the Wards Chapel-Boggy Depot Loop.
