We are placing a series of caches dedicated the pop culture or history of the 1980s. We were teens both in high school and college during that notable decade and have many fond memories of those years.
MTV was born in the 1980s. We are the true MTV generation and back in the day they actually played music videos all day. Artists came and went, but some songs remain with us. One of those songs was the debut hit of Cindi Lauper, Girls Just Want to (Wanna) Have Fun. The song was from the album She's So Unusual. The album had many other hits including Time After Time. She Bop & All Through the Night. It was released in 1982. The video and song received numerous awards and nominations. It was selected as the 1983 American Video Award for best performance and the 1984 MTV Best VMA for a female video. It was nominated for a Grammy in 1985. It was listed in the 22nd spot on VH1's top 100 videos. The video starred wrestling legend Captain Lou Albano as Ms. Lauper's father. It also featured many of her close friends and her mothers.
In 1985, a movie starring Helen Hunt and Sarah Jessica Parker was released. It was titled, Girls Just Want to Have Fun, but has no relation to the song.
The container has been filled with swag that many a young girl should enjoy. We hope you have fun looking for it. It should be easy to get to. There is some brush and some seasons will be harder than others. It is hidden from the view of muggles in the nearby parking lot and homes. We hope you have fun doing this cache.
