Motorway Mayhem caches are intended to provide fairly easy drive-by caches together with useful “just-off” motorway information for travellers who are in need of a break or seek alternatives to the typical motorway service station type fare and prices. It is hoped this series and concept will grow as other cachers add further caches along the length and breadth of Britain’s Motorways.
Junction 12 was recently improved by constructing a new junction approximately 40 metres to the north of the original junction. A new bridge was built carrying a wider A5120 over the M1. Enhanced routes for pedestrians and cyclists were also provided. New underpasses were also built under the slip roads to maintain access to fields and routes for pedestrians. This opened in May 2012 as part of the improvements between Jct 10 and 13 which cost up to £500 miliion.
The cache is a bison. It only contains a log - you are a geocacher, you should have a writing implement! Recommended parking is waymarked
