Geocache Description:

I live in Kearns and thought that it needed a Cache and, here t’is.

Kearns gets its name from a local farmer, William Kearns, who was involved in a scandalous court case which rocked the morals of the early colony. In 1824, William Kearns, who owned a large property on the fringe of the Scenic Hills, was sued by Joseph Ward, the father of a 14 year old girl that Kearns had a productive dalliance with.

As a sign of the morals of the times, Ward was not above personal scandal himself, he was a bigamist, who, after a trip to London, England, returned with a new “wife”, disowned his Australian wife, and, had tried to sell his English-born daughter to an American ship's captain. This behavior was described by the Chief Justice as "inhuman". Hard to know who was the most immoral.

Enjoy the views, have a good look around, You can see lots from the Cache site (you can see my house)

Please be careful if you are crossing the road and watch out for the ants nest.

Once the signing thing has been done, make sure the small metal plate goes back on properly.
