Situation géographique et itinéraire
Situé au nord de la ville de Saint-Pierre, le Centre de Découverte des sciences de la Terre (CDST) jouit d’une position exceptionnelle pour exposer la géologie de la Martinique. Pour s’y rendre, quitter le bourg de Saint-Pierre et emprunter la RD10 en direction du Prêcheur. Juste à la sortie du bourg de Saint-Pierre prendre à droite avant le gué de la Rivière des Pères. Suivre cette route sur 300 m.
Description du site
À l’initiative du Conseil Général de la Martinique, un Centre de Découverte des sciences de la terre (CDST) a vu le jour en 2004. La géologie et les risques naturels y sont présentés, et notamment l’éruption de 1902 de la Montagne Pelée2. Le CDST propose une exposition permanente retraçant l’histoire géologique de la Montagne Pelée et exposant également le risque sismique en Martinique ainsi qu’une collection minéralogique. Les expositions temporaires développent des thématiques variées allant de la « force électrostatique » aux « origines de l‘homme » ou encore à « l’astrologie ». Il est à noter que le CDST est un bâtiment parasismique original. Il consiste en une mono-structure découplée des fondations et donc des mouvements du sol par des isolateurs en élastomères.
Note : Vous pouvez visiter le centre suivant les horaires suivantes moyennant un ticket d'entrée : - Septembre à juin : ouvert du mardi au dimanche de 9h à 17h (fin des admissions 16h). - Juillet/août : ouvert du mardi au dimanche de 10h à 18h (fin des admissions 17h).).
LA CACHE :
Une fois que vous êtes dans le parking du centre, le site est très facile d'accès même pour les enfants. La cache de taille MICRO AIMANTÉ est placée à quelques mètres de la parking. Apportez donc votre crayon (BYOP) et soyez extrêmement discret, l’endroit est très fréquenté dans la journée. SVP replacez la cache exactement à l’endroit ou vous l’avez trouvée.

Description of the site
On the initiative of the General Council of Martinique, a Center of Discovery of the Earth sciences ( CDST) was born in 2004. The geology and the natural risks are presented to it, in particular the eruption of 1902 of the Mountain Pelée. The CDST proposes a permanent exhibition redrawing the geologic history of Mount Pelée and also exposin the seismic risk in Martinique as well as a mineralogical collection. The temporary exhibitions develop varied themes going of the " electrostatic strength " to the " origins of the man " or still in " the astrology ". It should be noted that the CDST is an original earthquake-resistant building. It consists of a mono-structure decoupled by the foundations and thus the movements of the ground by insulators élastomères.
Nota : You can visit the center following schedules following ones for a total outlay: - In September in June: open from Tuesday till Sunday from 9 am till 5 pm (at the end of the admissions 16 hours). - In July / August: open from Tuesday till Sunday from 10 am till 6 pm (at the end of the admissions 17 hours).
THE CACHE :
Once you have parked your car, the site is very easily accessible even for children. The cache of MICRO Magnetic Size is placed a few meters away from the parking. So please bring your own pen (BYOP) and be extremely discreet, the place is very busy during the day. Please replace cache exactly where you have found it.
