The church began meeting in the homes of charter members in 1895. In February 1898, The Prairie Chapel Methodist Episcopal Church Board of Trustees received a charter. The original building was dedicated in the fall of 1898 and the cost was $1800.00.
Beginning October 22, 1934 the church was raised (lift up not burn down) and the basement was dug out by hand using sleds and wagons. Taking only two months the basement was dedicated debt free on October 8, 1935.
On April 27, 2008 ground was broken and blessed for the Fellowship Hall addition, which included an updated kitchen and restrooms and helped the facility to meet the needs of all persons with any challenges.
