Dans le cadre du Grand Saint Pierre, dont la conception et la coordination ont été confiées à l’écrivain Patrick Chamoiseau, un appel à projets artistiques a été lancé en fin 2012 par le Parc Naturel Régional de Martinique pour la conception et la création, à partir de cylindre de bois de mahogany de cinq mètres de long, de 32 totems destinés à l’aménagement provisoire de l’entrée sud du bourg de Saint-Pierre. Anabell Guerrero est l’une des lauréates. Véronique Donnat évoque l’installation, une forêt–tribu de neuf totems, de l’artiste photographe et plasticienne Anabell Guerrero pour le Grand Saint-Pierre de Martinique.
LE SITE :
L'œuvre d'art appelé "Œil-miroir" est une installation de l’artiste photographe et plasticienne Anabell Guerrero pour le Grand Saint-Pierre de Martinique. Elle convoque la mémoire collective des Antilles et celle des Pierrotins, au Carbet, entre la route nationale et la mer, à quelques mètres et quasiment dans l’axe du « trou caraïbe » qui perce la falaise, et par lequel accéder à la ville de Saint-Pierre. Ces bouts de bois, ces pilastres dressés sur le littoral antillais, composent ainsi une installation dans l’espace public, une œuvre de forme totémique, ascensionnelle.
On compte donc neuf (9) totems et ils forment une tribu. Une tribu-forêt, assemblée face à l’océan, face au volcan. On dirait qu’ils marchent et qu’ils parlent. Le pas n’est pas assuré, la parole est émiettée, au vent. Mais à 9, ils sont déjà multitude. Composée de trois triptyques, l’installation s’articule au premier chef autour de deux dates incontournables, fondatrices : 1848, abolition de l’esclavage. 1902, éruption volcanique, destruction de Saint-Pierre. Marques de délivrance dans la forêt de mahoganys, l’artiste affuble certains des fûts de hublots où sont serties des images d’archives soigneusement choisies par l’artiste : le mouillage des goélettes dans la baie ; un timbre poste à l’effigie de la Liberté ; une page du registre d’état civil de 1848, faisant adjonction de nom à la citoyenne Sophie et ses enfants; un cliché des ruines encore fumantes de Saint-Pierre.

THE SITE :
The site "Œil-miroir" is an artistic installation from the artist photographer Anabell Guerrero for the Grand Saint-Pierre of Martinique, it summons the collective memory of the Antilles and that of the Pierrotins, in Carbet, between the main road and the sea, a few meters away and almost in the axis of the " Caribbean hole " which drills the cliff, and by whom to reach the city of Saint-Pierre. These pieces of wood, these pilasters raides on the West Indian coast, so make up an installation in the public place, a work of totemic, upward shape.
There are nine totems and they constitute tribes. A tribe-forest, assembled in front of the ocean, in front of volcano. It looks like they walk and it looks like they speak. The step is not assured(insured), the word is crumbled, in the wind. But with 9, they are already a multitude. Consisted of three triptyches, the installation articulates primarily around two inescapable, founding dates: 1848, abolition of slavery. 1902, volcanic eruption, destruction of Saint-Peter. Stand out with delivery in the forest of mahoganys, the artist decks out some of the barrels(trunks) of portholes where are set archives images carefully chosen by the artist: the anchorage of schooners in the bay; a stamp posts in the effigy of the Freedom; a page of the register of births, marriages and deaths of 1848, making addition of name to the citizen Sophie and her children; a cliché of the still smoking ruins of Saint-Pierre.
