Lake Paringa is a lake not far from the coast and a popular spot for Salmon fishers. It is surrounded by native bush and the birdlife is spectacular. If you stop here for just a short while you are bound to hear and see a tui. We also saw many Keraru (native wood pigeion) flying around.
Cache is visible within a metre but camoflaged. Container is about 500ml plastic jar with camo tape on it. Difficult for those below average height.
Please be kind to our natives. No bush bashing required. Leave nothing but footprints (and your log in the log book) and take away only memories.
Near easy parking off the main highway. Not far south is a DOC camping ground very popular for 'Freedom Campers".
Wear insect repellant before you leave your vehicle.
We stayed in the lodge very near the parking and love this spot. Stop a while near but do come prepared with insect repellant and a raincoat.
