Geocache Description:

This cache is owned by/located within Lake Metigoshe State Park. All of the North Dakota state parks require an entrance fee in the amount of $5/vehicle/day or you may purchase an annual pass for $25, which will waive your entrance fee in all of the ND state parks until May of the following year. Due to the placement of this cache, you can come find it any time of year. Parking nearby or grab and go!

This cache is located along the main road of the park, at the begining of the Kings Highway Trail. Many hikers, bikers, geocachers and cross-country skiers use this trail. This makes for a quick grab and go cache, but there is nearby parking located in the grassy, open area on the west side of Loon Lodge, which is located further up the road northwest of this cache. If you stay to hike this trail, it'll open up into an open meadow. On the south side is School Section Lake, which is used for canoeing programs in the summer. On the north side of the field is Canada. In fact, if you walk in that direction, you'll see a stone pillar marking the international border. For security reasons, please admire from a distance as we don't want to create more work for Border Patrol. A stone pillar exists every 1 mile along the Canadian border! If you continue to walk, you'll see many everygreen trees. That was a boy scout planting from years ago when this portion of the park was Boy Scouts of America land. If you are shorter than 5'5", it's recommended that you bring a taller friend for assistance. Please bring your own pen or pencil to sign the log. Whatever brings you to Lake Metigoshe State Park, we hope you spend some time with us and enjoy it!
