Geocache Description:

A proper, good size cache, hidden for your delight and entertainment!  Plenty of space...so, take what you want...but please leave things for others!

UPDATE 13th May 2017 THE ORIGINAL CACHE HAS BEEN LOST AS THE TREE IT WAS IN HAS BEEN CUT DOWN. ALL ITEMS INCLUDING ANY TRACKABLES ARE, I'M AFRAID, GONE. NEW CACHE SET VERY CLOSE BY IN SIMILAR STYLE, WITH ALL CLUES ETC STILL RELEVANT. MANY NETTLES LIKELY AT GZ IN SPRING, SO "NETTLE BEATERS" PROVIDED CLOSE BY. COORDINATES UPDATED ACCORDINGLY.

Thi s part  of The Ock River Path (or Ock Valley Walk) extends only a small stretch of the total length of the river; from central Abingdon besides St Helen’s Church where it meets the Thames, out past the outskirts of the town besides a supermarket, following the course of the River Ock.  There are plenty of pathways and places to explore along here - rivers to enjoy, trees to climb woods to play in!

Plentyof wildlife along here too - of course there's the "crack willow", which is the main type of tree along here, comfry and nettles, as well as plenty of creatures - goldfinches, various ducks, if you're lucky a kingfisher or perhaps a muntjack deer!

Parking is fairly easily available at both ends of the walk, but the eastern end - in town,  has a car park.  The actual path is fairly soft ground (when wet) but wheelchairs and pushchairs should make it, if not to mushy.  As long as the cache is "in hand" when the log sigend, someone else can actually retrieve it, if required...

Spend a few hours in Abingdon and take advantage of the independant shops and cafes...while doing a few of the local caches!

As with all my caches, I have tried hard to make them big enough for trinkets and souvenirs. This is no exception...and is positively the biggest cache I've come across locally!   I hope you enjoy it!  Please...take what you like...but swap or leave something behind for others!

As always...please take care when retrieving this cache, and or course, being near water...keep an eye on little cachers!
