Geocache Description:

An EZ to get to and find historical cache

Back in the early 20th century the Mojave River Valley east of Yermo was heavily promoted as a future agricultural mecca. Promoters constructed miles of irrigation canals of various sizes to carry water to the fields. The area was called “Minneola” after the chief promoter’s wife Minnie.

The promotion was not successful but sections the old canals still exist. This is one of the better examples and is in pretty good shape for being around 100 years old. We discovered it on our way home after setting up the “Paradise Springs Rd. series”.

Enjoy the area and take a few minutes to walk a piece of history.

Caution!! As with any desert Cache, NEVER put your hands in or under any rocks or containers that you can't see fully. Always turn over rocks with a stick before picking them up. Things that like to bit and sting love to hide and wait just for you! Always take extra WATER with you.
