ALL SAINTS, FENTON
The original building dates from the 12th Century with some later additions. The Church underwent some major restoration during the early 19th Century.
The building consists of coursed Ironstone 'rubble', Ancaster stone ashlar, blue lias and red brick.
The decorated spire sits atop the 15th Century West tower of 3 stages with buttresses. The First stage, west front, has windows of 2 cusped and pointed lights with quatrefoil and mullions above, hood mould and large ornate head label stops.
The Second stage, west, north and south sides have single small rectangular windows containing single quatrefoils. Both stages, north side have C15 bell openings.
Fenton Hall, once the seat of the Lucas family is now a farmhouse and adjacent to the church grounds. You will walk past this lovely building and the village pond en route to the starting point.
