Milton Highlights Multi-cache

This cache has been archived.

Sir Dave: The original container was bulldozed and using a lock-n-lock just isn't going to do in this local, so reluctantly I'm archiving this hide.

Geocache Description:

This cache was originally part of the 2014 CNC Geotrail.

Stage 1 will take you to what Milton is most known for - Blenko Glass. It is known world-wide for its artistic hand-blown glass. It was founded in 1893 by William Blenko after he came over from England at the age of 38. It originally started near Kokomo, Indiana where it was one of America's first gas-fueled operations. He later moved it due to poor sales and chose the little farm town of Milton because the Industrial Development Dept. of the Chesapeake & Ohio Railroad sold him on the idea of Milton as a good place to work. It was a dependable source of sober, industrious labor and natural gas, used in all the glass furnaces. Now, for over 100 years Blenko has maintained and will carry on the tradition of hand-made glass.

Stage 2 will take you to Pumpkin Park in Milton. Here is the annual WV Pumpkin Festival usually in early October. It has many events during the week - from a beauty pageant to a parade and many farming attractions - you can have a fun time here. It also has a performing arts center, a motorcross, horse shows, and multiple baseball and softball fields just to name a few highlights.
