Papa's Trash Cache #32 - The 12th Hole Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

papa+2: I'm tired of people saying this is on private property, or me trying to find it time and time again after reports of it missing. I'm done with this one.

Geocache Description:

Trash Cache- A cache that consists of a basic small "container" and logbook only.

We've all seen them. Those 35mm film canisters, old pill bottles, or whatever other "container" someone can come up with. Well this is my caching series called Papa's Trash Cache.

Welcome to McCormick Park in St. Helens, Oregon. The 70.33 acre park is home to two baseball fields, a playground for the kids, a newly expanded BMX track, a skateboard park, horse shoe pits, a sand volleyball court, a walking/exercising path, and more. New additions to the park include tent camp sites (no longer open) and a frisbee golf course. Also you can reserve areas of the park for use for reunions, birthdays or weddings. (Squirrel note - my wife and I were married here on June 27th, 2009, by the creek)

Enough background info. Time for the good stuff.

Enter McCormick Park at the main entrance on South 18th Street and park at the back parking lot (coords are provided). Then find your way to the trailhead at the southern corner of the same lot (coords also provided). Follow the trail in a SE direction crossing the small pedestrian bridge. After the bridge you will keep right and stay on the gravel path (coords given). (Squirrel note - I wonder how many frisbees will be lost to the creek near here?) This is the path that will take you close to the cache. Now there are many turns and other paths out here so if you can find a map online of the park paths it may help guide you. At some point you will need to venture off the gravel path but be aware there IS poison oak in this portion of the park, and lots of it.

The cache is a larger small size so there is room for trackables. Please rehide like you find it. Be aware that there may be muggles around you. They throw frisbees and pop out of nowhere. Happy caching!
