A glacis is an artificial slope that surrounds a fortress to keep an enemy visible for as long as possible so that they can be fired upon. Crownhill Fort retains a large section of its glacis which now acts to prevent the suburban sprawl of north Plymouth from encroaching on its defences.
This cache is hidden on a permissive pathway surrounding the Fort and can be accessed on the side of the fence nearest the meadow. The ground can be muddy following rainfall.
Please be stealthy when retrieving and replacing this cache and ensure it is left upright to prevent water getting in.
