Dit is een ideale poort tot het Zoniënwoud voor wandelingen of om te fietsen.
Het Zoniënwoud bestaat vandaag voor 70 procent uit beukenbos. Indrukwekkende, kaarsrechte beuken die hoog in de hemel reiken: daar staat het Zoniënwoud voor bekend. Het Zoniënwoud heeft zijn bijnaam ‘beukenkathedraal’ duidelijk niet gestolen.
Het Zoniënwoud, dat is 4.400 hectare Europese topnatuur waar jaarlijks meerdere miljoenen bezoekers op afkomen. Maar ook: een uitgestrekt en betoverend woud aan de rand van Brussel, doorsneden door drukke verkeersassen. Het enige natuurgebied ook dat op het grondgebied van de drie Belgische gewesten ligt.

The Sonian Forest—that’s 4,400 hectares (10,920 acres) of top European nature, the destination of several million visitors each year. It is also a vast and enchanting forest on the edge of Brussels, intersected by busy traffic arteries. Furthermore, the only nature reserve that stretches out over the three Regions of Belgium.
