Geocache Description:

This is the eighth cache, in the growing series “Let’s Celebrate”, which recognizes a wide variety of religious and cultural celebrations within this great country of Canada.  What could be more fitting than a CITO Event for Earth Day.

Come to Newport Park to help us help the environment!

This event is on Saturday, April 26th, 2014 from 10am until 12:00 noon.

Come pick up some trash or recyclables in Burlington to celebrate 2014 CITO Weekend.

Lend a hand to improve the geocaching game board (a local park, trail, and geocaching-friendly location) and earn the 2014 CITO souvenir. It’s easy and rewarding.

It all happens during the 2014 CITO Weekend on April 26 and 27. Everyone who logs an “Attended” at a Cache In Trash Out (CITO) Event earns this year’s CITO souvenir for their Geocaching profile.

During a CITO Event, geocachers search parks, trails and forests to earn a smiley—but they’re not looking for geocaches. They’re clearing litter and trash from geocaching-friendly areas around the world. On CITO weekend, thousands of geocachers will walk away from their events with bags of trash and a sense of pride. They’re preserving the natural beauty of our world.

We will be collecting trash from Newport Park, in conjunction with Burlington Green. The above coordinates (posted) are for the parking lot - this is where we will; meet, park and start our trash removal. There are a couple of caches in the area, so those will need to stay in place (but feel free to find them if you haven't already). The event will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday April 26th and run until noon.

Some things you may want to bring, just in case:
-weather-appropriate clothing and shoes
-a dry pair of shoes and socks for the drive home, some of the area does flood and get soggy
-bottled water or other beverages
- bring your own gloves, and or other tools for picking things up
-a GPS if you haven't already found the caches within the park, and surrounding area

Please post a note if you plan on attending, and how many people in your group, so we can get an idea of how many people are coming. I will post more information as it becomes available.
