Geocache Description:

Welcome to McCormick Park in St. Helens, Oregon. Please enjoy.

McCormick Park is a 70.33 acre park and is home to two baseball fields, a playground for the kids, a newly expanded BMX track, a skateboard park, horse shoe pits, a sand volleyball court, a walking/exercising path, and more. New additions to the park include tent camp sites and a frisbee golf course. Also you can reserve areas of the park for use for reunions, birthdays or weddings. (Squirrel note - my wife and I were married here on June 27th, 2009, by the creek)

Enough background info. Time for the good stuff.

Enter McCormick Park at the main entrance on South 18th Street and park at the back parking lot (coords are provided). Then find your way to the trailhead at the southern corner of the same lot (coords also provided). Cross the small pedestrian bridge E/SE of the parking lot to find the path that will take you to the cache.

This cache is a special one.  When you find the cache you will notice a few things odd.  First off there are two containers.  Secondly there is a metal frame holding the cache containers together and closed with two combination locks.  The trick, there is only one logbook in only one of the containers.

What you have to do is find the combinations for the locks.  You will notice two sets of coordinates stamped onto plates and attached to each side of the metal frame.  Input one, or both, coords into your GPSr/smartphone and go find the combination(s).  What you are looking for is a shiny metal tag with numbers stamped onto it.  Remember, only one container contains the way to a smiley.  Try keeping with the spirit of this cache and go find one combination first.  If it doesn't pan out THEN go find the other one.  You have a 50/50 chance!

Please put the cache back together and hidden proper so the next cacher can enjoy the fun too.  Remember to scramble the combination.

DO NOT spoil the cache and pry open the containers.  If you can't locate the combinations contact me through geocaching.com and I will help you.

Make sure you have fun and enjoy your time in our wonderful park.
