This cache is placed in Miterdale Forest, near the village of Eskdale Green. Access to the free car park is via an unobvious left turn (when heading up the valley from Gosforth) from the main road just before Eskdale Green village. Follow this track for 5 minutes until you reach the car park adjacent from Miterdale Forest. Please be careful driving down this lane as there are many sheep.
It is not necessary to rummage through loose vegetation to find this cache.
It's up there!
The trails and roads of the forest are marked on this open street map link
The cache it a bit off the path so will be harder to get to when the ferns are high (hence higher terrain rating). If you come in winter this is not a problem!
List of things you can find here for geokids (big and small):
A large wooden “den”
A clean mountain river
Natural and planted forest
Views over the fells and out to sea
A network of forest paths and roads
Have fun!
Thank you to the North West Forestry Commission for giving us permission to place this cache.
