Geocache Description:

Cache located at the tip of the West Sands and at the beginning of the Eden Estuary nature trail. You will not be able to drive there as there is a barrier, but you can follow the road or walk on the path along the beach, it's just under 1/2 a mile from the nearest you can leave your car.  Bring a pen.

Please keep dogs on lead and use bins provided. Take great care not to venture out over the sands at low tide as many visitors have become trapped.

You will reach the viewing platform overlooking the estuary, the cache is nearby.

This is a rich and diverse landscape of mudflats, dunes and saltmarshes. In winter these habitats support thousands of migratory birds, have a look at the info on the various boards.

To maintain the natural beauty of West Sands a dune stabilisation programme is in place and all visitors are asked to use the footpaths in place to access the beach. The Dunes found at West Sands are internationally important.  They are part of the Firth of Tay and Eden Estuary Special Area for Conservation.
