(All 12 Lake caches have the same description so you only need to read once – have fun)
Park opening hours 6:30am to 5:30pm (7:30pm in Day Light Savings) – please don’t attempt the caches outside these hours.
Lots of muggles walk, run and ride this track on the weekends and even on an early morning walk, pre 8am, you will need to use stealth for some of the cache retrievals as they are either right on the track or close by.
Lake Parramatta was formed in the mid 1850’s when Hunt’s Creek was dammed. Lake Parramatta Dam is an Engineers Australia National Engineering Landmark and is:
- The 11th earliest single arch dam constructed in the world
- The first large dam built in Australia
- The only masonry arch dam in Australia and is very slender when compared with structures of similar age in the world
- The only masonry dam in the world to combine the use of Roman and Portland cements in the one structure
- Was one of the earliest urban water projects in Australia and remained in use for over 60 years

Now for those interested in the Caching:
We have placed a series of 12 small cache containers (film canisters) in reasonably easy spots to find off the edge of the track.
